2012 StepUp Volunteer Needs:
Life Skills adult co-partner:
9 month commitment every Tuesday night from 6pm-8:15pm. Commitment involves working with participants on budgeting and goal setting. Classes take place at White Memorial Presbyterian Church
Life Skills co-partners for children:
Summer months only 6pm-8:15pm every Tuesday night at White Memorial Presbyterian Church. Commitment involves working one-on-one with children enrolled in the Life Skills program, topics include budgeting, goal setting, and help with homework.
Life Skills nursery workers:
Weekly commitment every Tuesday night from 6pm-8:15pm. Commitment involves working with children ages 0-4.
Alumni Life Coach:
1 year commitment on first Thursday each month from 6pm-8pm. Requires 5 weeks of training for 2 hours per week, involves working with Life Skills graduates to help them further their pursuit of stability. Classes take place at Hayes Barton Baptist Church
Helpers for meals during Alumni Program:
Weekly from 5:30pm-7pm at Hayes Barton Baptist Church. Commitment involves pick-up and delivery of meal as well as set up and cleanup.
Adult co-partner for new program at Mayview:
1 year commitment every Thursday night from 6pm-8:15pm. Commitment involves working with women (over 21) or young adults (16-21) in specifically designed workshops for Mayview residents who are unemployed and/or disabled. Classes take place at Wilson Temple United Methodist Church.
Instructors for adult/youth classes at Mayview:
1 year commitment every Thursday from 6pm-8:15pm at Wilson Temple UMC. Commitment involves teaching budgeting, goal setting, personal growth and credit repair. A curriculum is provided for this program.
Helpers for meals during the Jobs Program workshops:
Workshops take place 2 weeks each month at various locations. Commitment involves setting up, serving, and cleaning up either breakfast or lunch for the class.
Helpers for meals during Job Friends meetings:
Meets weekly from 5:30pm-7pm at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Raleigh. Commitment involves helping to set up, serve, and clean up meals.
