Vocational Training

StepUp’s vocational training curriculum provides training for those who successfully complete and pass the week long Job Training Workshops. These programs have tremendous potential to help participants re-establish their lives and become a productive part of our local economy by earning a “livable wage”.

Automotive Apprenticeship:

Individuals work with a trained mechanic at Wheels 4 Hope. Upon completion participants have the new skills they have learned, developed a new resume catered to the automotive field, and have passed the ASE Light Vehicle Maintenance and Inspection exam.

Administrative Apprenticeship:

Participants work in the front office at Wheels 4 Hope to develop business administration skills. The participants gain customer service skills, computer skills, and training in database management.

Fiber-optic Training:

Participants complete four weeks of classroom instruction to earn three industry-recognized certificates: Introduction to Telecommunications, Introduction to Copper-based Systems, and Introduction to Fiber optic-based Systems.

Entrepreneurship Training:

Highly motivated Life Skills graduates apply for training that teaches the elements of how to start a business. Throughout the curriculum, participants prepare a thorough business plan that is ready to launch by the end of the course or can be used to apply for funding by a group of local angel investors.
